Cross Country Sleepover

I slept for an hour and a half last night.

Cross country was a very weird experience because I’ve never been on a team that had bonded that well. Any time we were together it was like we were all on crack. Or whatever Sarah is on right now. Ms. Gounis had to take her monster away, but that’s how the cross country team is when more than three of us are in a room together. Everyone always goes insane.

But we all got very close, and I know that the three I eat lunch with missed cross country season because of it.

So of course I invited everyone over for a sleepover.

Not everyone could come. Maddie Prechtl was prohibited by her parents. Mary Teeple couldn’t get there either. And five or so others couldn’t make it due to prior plans. But after Taryn got there (at 10:35) there were nine of us. But Taryn arrived and immediately went to sleep so let’s just say there were eight of us.

Chelsea arrived first, then Hannah Webb, and pretty soon everyone had gotten to my house (including Moriah) inside the 30 minute time period I left open to arrivals. (except for Taryn, but we knew she would be late) After about thirty minutes of catching up, aka pretty much screaming at each other, the craziness began. I had brought a speaker up and gave Hannah the ability to control the music. And she played Since U Been Gone first as a nice warm up to get everyone in the mood for some music.

We had a two hour or so dance party to songs ranging between It’s Raining Tacos and Roxanne. During which there was a lot of jumping and screaming and general organized chaos.

But when we got done with the dancing and the unorganized chaos began. Hannah had put her arms and legs into the sleeves of her sweatshirt, with her head through the head hole. And everyone else had to try to do this as well. And before you knew it there were five girls walking around like that. Falling over at random intervals, flailing around, unable to get up. Some got stuck, like Kimmie. And then you had Hannah, who’s skill allowed her to somehow leap on top of the bed while still in that form. It was a very strange experience.

When the sugar high finally wore off, we all gathered in front of the television to watch various movies. The first was Insidious chapter 3. This was hilarious because Sydney and I had both seen all of the insidious movies, so we would make jokes about what we were seeing. But everyone else was terrified. Kimmie screamed when Taryn walked in half way through because she thought Taryn was the no breathing man from the movie.

The screams after every jump scare, combined with Sydney and I cackling together, apparently was too much for some. So after we finished insidious we watched Bandersnatch, but we got stuck inside it for awhile, so we quit and watched Ratatouille.

Then it was like three am and we were trying to go to sleep, but Taryn was snoring so loudly. And Sydney was Not Having it, so I had to go over to Taryn and try and roll her over. But she woke up (which was so weird since she slept through us screaming) and turned herself over. So we could finally go to sleep.

But I couldn’t sleep so I was up until like six am and then I only got an hour and a half of sleep that night which was terrible.

Then we all got up and had breakfast and I waited for everyone to leave. Which happened by 11.

I went downstairs and watched an episode of Criminal Minds while finishing my homework for the weekend, before making lunch and taking a nap. My nap lasted two hours before I had to go to a swim meet at 5:15. That’s when the bus left.

I swam terribly because of my exhaustion, as well as my newly acquired illness, before getting home at 11:30 pm and going to sleep by midnight.

I then arrived at school with a cumulative nine and a half hours of sleep over two days, ready to do my aerobics in yoga. But we had the day to work on our projects so I took another nap.

And now I’m here, writing a blog, very ready to go and die in math class because I do not have the mental capacity to learn anything right now.
